Arden & GEM’s business intelligence service was named winner in the ‘Supporting Healthcare Teams’ Response to COVID-19’ category and highly commended in the ‘Excellence in Data, AI and Automation’ category at the HTN Now Awards 2022.

Taking place via a virtual ceremony on 20 January, the Health Tech Newspaper (HTN) Now Awards recognised the fantastic work that has taken place across the NHS and industry over the past 12 months.

Arden & GEM’s Data and Systems team was named winner in the Supporting Healthcare Teams’ Response to COVID-19 category for their work to design, develop and rapidly implement NIVS – the National Immunisation and Vaccination System. NIVS provides a cost effective and clinically assured solution for point of delivery data capture for vaccinations. With more than 11 million vaccination events captured to date, NIVS has played a key role in supporting the successful implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination programme. Its high level of interoperability with existing patient record and reporting systems, and ability to guide vaccinators through a clinical decision support process, has enabled vaccines to be administered safely and effectively.

While in the Excellence in Data, AI and Automation category, Arden & GEM’s Advanced Analytics Unit (AAU) was highly commended for a project to generate actionable insight from population health data for NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) CCG. With a patient population of almost 1 million, BLMK CCG wanted to better understand local healthcare consumption, outcomes and variation in inequalities across their geography. The AAU worked closely with BLMK CCG, developing and evolving a bespoke needs-based model focussed on tailored, individualised health improvement; the outputs of which will be used to enhance care pathway planning and delivery.

Commenting on the awards success, Director of Business Intelligence and Provider Management at Arden & GEM, Helen Seth, said: “I am incredibly proud that our data orientated work to support frontline delivery in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and our analytical capability to support longer term recovery through Population Health Management (PHM) has been recognised by the HTN judging panel. Data, advanced analysis and predictive modelling are critical to optimising the forward roadmap for integrated health and care and we are delighted to be part of the solution through our innovation and application as part of the NHS family.”
