The Arden & GEM procurement team has been successfully shortlisted in two categories for the CIPS Supply Management Awards 2019.

Respected as a benchmark for excellence, the awards are the most prestigious recognition in the procurement and supply chain profession. The first project, shortlisted in the Ethical Procurement – Public Sector category, was to provide an out of hospital community services procurement, delivered in partnership with and on behalf of NHS Nottingham City CCG.

By consolidating services under one contract not only has integration been improved, for the benefit of service users, but significant cost savings have been achieved. Arden & GEM successfully led this collaborative and complex procurement which put a commitment to social value at its heart, with 25% of the total score awarded to bidders focused on improving employment and training, promoting healthy lifestyle behaviours and supporting a healthy environment.

The second project, to find providers for the West Midlands ‘Thrive into Work’ programme, was shortlisted in the Public Procurement category in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority, NHS Wolverhampton CCG and Social Finance. In order to support 3,300 people, throughout the West Midlands, to find employment; health and care organisations are collaborating on a randomised controlled trial – the ‘Thrive into Work’ programme. Arden & GEM’s procurement team designed and delivered the full procurement to appoint providers across this broad geography in just four months.

“We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted in two categories for this year’s CIPS Supply Management Awards. This is the highest recognition of both the expertise and professionalism of our staff, and the ambition of our clients. Both shortlisted projects have navigated complex procurements with successful outcomes to make a real difference for patients and citizens across the Midlands.”

Warren Simms, procurement director at Arden & GEM

The CIPS awards winners will be announced at a ceremony on 11 September at Grosvenor House, London.
