A new integrated service offer has been launched to improve collaboration between the NHS and the life sciences industry.
The Life Science Hub, delivered by the CSU collaboration, brings together strategic advisory support, clinical insight and real-world analytics to enhance the adoption of high-impact innovations across the health system.
Designed as a bridge between the NHS and industry, the Life Science Hub helps companies identify where their treatments, technologies or services can add the most value – and supports the NHS in adopting them efficiently and sustainably. By combining deep NHS expertise with a national view of data and strategy, the Hub provides tailored support for everything from market entry to optimisation of existing therapies.
“We’re helping both sides of the equation solve the same challenge – getting the right care to patients at the right time,” said Alison Tonge, Lead Director for the NHS Life Science Hub. “Our specialist team works from board-level NHS engagement through to the delivery of local implementation, ensuring that innovation translates into real-world benefits for patients and the NHS.”
The Life Science Hub’s service offer is built around three core pillars:
- Acceleration and adoption: Supporting the life sciences industry to bring new treatments and technologies to market by aligning them with NHS priorities and pathways. This includes evidence generation, market access, and implementation to accelerate adoption and impact.
- Maximising impact and optimisation: Supporting life sciences companies to optimise existing treatments by using NHS data, clinical insights, and pathway expertise. This includes enhancing real-world effectiveness, improving service efficiency, and strengthening value for long-term adoption and growth.
- Strategic advisory support: Working collaboratively with the life sciences industry to help them navigate and succeed in the NHS through strategic access support, operational deployment expertise, and real-world insights to drive adoption and scale.
With expertise spanning clinical practice, medicines management, public health, consultancy, economics and change management, the Life Science Hub team is uniquely positioned to drive innovation. It offers a full range of services, including health economic evaluations, stakeholder engagement strategies, pathway redesign and digital optimisation. Whether working with a start-up launching a novel treatment or a mature company seeking to enhance its NHS impact, our support is designed to deliver value for both suppliers and healthcare providers.
The Life Science Hub also supports NHS organisations directly. Services include evidence generation, medicines QIPP implementation, pathway optimisation and programme support – all aimed at improving population health and delivering better value for patients and systems.
