Arden & GEM shortlisted for two HSJ Digital Awards

Arden & GEM’s business intelligence and digital transformation teams have been successfully shortlisted as part of two innovative projects at the HSJ Digital Awards 2023.

The first shortlisting is for the business intelligence team, and partners Liverpool City Council, in the ‘Connecting Health and Social Care through Digital’ category for a project to link adult social care and health data.

The Adult Social Care Client Level Data programme has developed a national solution which collects adult social care data and links it with health data. With almost half of local authorities already submitting data, this complete picture of the patient pathway is helping to improve service planning and delivery. This programme is a great example of how bringing together a cross-organisational multidisciplinary team can overcome longstanding challenges to provide a usable social care solution, making a difference for service users, their support networks and ICSs.

The second shortlisting is in the ‘Improving Mental Health through Digital’ category for the Shine programme, an empowering digital approach between Arden & GEM’s digital transformation team, NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes ICS, and ShinyMind.

The Shine Programme was co-designed with staff, patients and partners and brings together an evidence-based wellbeing and resilience app with a customised staff training programme and prescribing portal. The result is an effective, value-for-money solution – already implemented in 30 GP practices across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes ICB – which is helping patients to feel better and less anxious, while also increasing staff wellbeing, job satisfaction, retention and ability to care.

In its opening year, the HSJ Digital Awards aims to shine a light on the outstanding efforts and achievements that individuals and teams across the digital sector deliver on a daily basis. An impressive 314 entries were received, with 164 projects and individuals making it to the final shortlist (from across 120 organisations). The high volume - and exceptional quality – of applications reflects the breadth of innovation and care across the UK's health and care systems.

Shortlisted projects and organisations will present their entries to a judging panel in May before the winners are announced at the official awards ceremony being held in Manchester Central on 22 June 2023.

HSJ editor Alastair McLellan, commented; “On behalf of all my colleagues, it gives me great pleasure to congratulate Arden & GEM on being shortlisted as a finalist. All of the applications represent the ‘very best of the NHS’ and often leave our esteemed panel of judges with an impossible choice.

“We’re all very much looking forward to welcoming our finalists to the awards ceremony in June, celebrating their impressive achievements and jointly acknowledging our values of sharing best practice, improving patient outcomes and continuously driving for better service. But we never forget that the award ceremony is not just a celebration within a night, but a platform to recognise the hard work of all our NHS staff, all year round.”
