It’s another celebration for the Arden & GEM procurement team, having been shortlisted for a GO Excellence in Public Procurement award 2017.
Our team has been shortlisted in the ‘GO Collaboration Award – Health’ category which recognises the vital role that collaboration will continue to play in the future, showcasing the very best examples of this practice from across the entire public sector.
The shortlisted project, NHS England Direct Commissioning Procurement Support, provides procurement activities across those clinical services for which NHS England has direct commissioning responsibility. The two-year project is led by Arden & GEM as the Lead Provider, working in partnership with three other CSU procurement delivery partners: South, Central and West CSU, North of England CSU and North East London CSU.
Our innovative approach has delivered efficiencies through ‘multi-lots’, reducing procurements and delivering significant benefits in cost avoidance. To date the approach has saved £870,000 in procurement costs across 229 projects covering over 475 individual contracts, which can be invested in further procurements. In the first year of operation the team has identified full year cash releasing savings of circa £13.5 million for reinvestment in patient care.
The project reached the finals after being reviewed by a panel of judges made up of experts in UK procurement spread across Government, the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply and Local Government. Winners will be announced at the National GO Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 21 March at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate.
