It’s a double celebration for NHS Arden & Greater East Midlands (GEM) Commissioning Support Unit (CSU), having been shortlisted for two procurement projects in the Health Care Supply Association (HCSA) Awards.

Both projects have reached the finals in the Procurement and Supply Chain Management Collaboration category. This recognises the successful collaboration of Arden & GEM’s procurement team and its partner organisations in delivering efficiency gains and service improvements, as well as demonstrating successful stakeholder engagement, innovation, sustainability and transferability.

The shortlisted projects are:

  • NHS England Direct Commissioning Procurement Support: Providing procurement support across those clinical services for which NHS England has direct commissioning responsibility. The two-year project is led by Arden & GEM as the Lead Provider, working in partnership with three other CSU procurement delivery partners: South, Central and West CSU, North of England CSU and North East London CSU.
  • Nottinghamshire Community Services: Arden & GEM led the procurement in a highly complex programme to improve community services across Nottinghamshire, in a collaborative partnership with six Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Groups, Nottinghamshire County and City Councils, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Nottinghamshire Hospice.

Warren Simms, Associate Director of Clinical Procurement and Market Management, NHS Arden & GEM CSU, said: “It is great news to have been shortlisted twice for this prestigious award. Our expert procurement teams are leading the way in collaborative projects, involving partners and stakeholders in the successful procurement of patient focused services. It is wonderful to have this work independently recognised.”

The HCSA Award winners will be announced at an award ceremony in November.
