Service delivery kicks off in Norfolk and Waveney

The start of the new financial year also marks the start of two major contracts to deliver commissioning and clinical support services for five CCGs across Norfolk and Waveney.

After months of careful planning, Arden & GEM CSU will begin working with North Norfolk, South Norfolk, West Norfolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney, and Norwich CCGs following the successful contract awards made via the NHS England Lead Provider Framework (LPF). The two contracts, worth £39 million over a four year period, will cover key services to support the five CCGs, who serve a total population in excess of 1 million.

The first contract covers end to end commissioning support (business intelligence, procurement and provider management, finance, human resources, information governance and freedom of information) and information technology support (GP and corporate IT). The second contract covers medicines management and optimisation, and individual funded request support.

The appointment was based on the CSU’s successful track record in developing strategic partnerships that enable collaborative working and approaches. Management of the four year contract will be overseen by a dedicated Chief Operating Officer.

To ensure a smooth transition from the existing service, and sustainability for staff members already involved in service delivery, a number of North East London Commissioning Support Unit staff have successfully transferred across to Arden & GEM.
