The National Commissioning Data Repository (NCDR), hosted by Arden & GEM CSU on behalf of NHS England, is being updated to include a new suite of intelligence dashboards and additional functionality to improve user experience.

Arden & GEM originally developed the web based portal in October 2016 to enable collaborative commissioning of specialised services. The NCDR uses a variety of data sources, in relation to specialised service commissioned activities, to provide users with a comprehensive understanding of the needs of their population. With over 30 dashboards and reports available, the NCDR has already informed a range of transformation programmes including cardiology and place based commissioning.

The upgraded portal, which launches on 18 October 2017, features six new reports including QIPP IQ, Non-Contracted Services Explorer, Planned Performance investigator, Pathway Analyser, Place Based Commissioning Explorer and Contract Monitoring. New functionality includes cross data source filters across multiple datasets, favourites selection and parameter setting for user alerts.

The additional portal functionality has been identified in partnership with national, regional and local commissioners to enable holistic planning and decision making. With a growing user base and evolving reporting the NCDR is uniquely placed to meet the needs of collaborative commissioning.
